The most asked question when parents start homeschooling is, “What should my daily schedule look like?”. I’ll provide you with some tips and a free homeschool daily checklist that will help make your days more flexible and carefree!

Be sure to take a look at my free Homeschool Lesson Plan Trackers too!

What should my daily schedule look like?

Some families thrive on set schedules! They know exactly what they’re doing at what time, and it works for them! My family is not one of those families. The great thing about homeschooling is that it doesn’t have to look like everyone else! You get to figure out what works for your family and even do some trial and error until you figure out what works.

At my house, we do a flexible schedule. We utilize daily checklists for each child and our day is complete when the checklist is complete, no matter how little or how much time that might take us. For our family, this takes away the stress of being on a schedule and feeling like we’re behind because we had a doctor’s appointment or we decided to go on a morning walk. The flexibility allows us to see what needs to be done and see what we completed with zero stress!

How we use the Daily Checklist:

My kids do it! You heard me right, I don’t do ANYTHING with the checklist. This is 100% my children’s responsibility! I hang each checklist in a dry erase pocket above our desk and the kid’s checkoff or cross off each task as we complete it with dry-erase markers. I let them choose which order they complete the tasks too. This gives them a sense of responsibility and also lets them feel empowered because they get a choice in what they do first/last. This also helps me recognize and keep note of what subjects they choose first and what they enjoy more.

Included in the free download are a few different options. For my family, we do a set schedule Monday-Thursday and have a more of a flex day on Friday with Science/History/Games…etc. so we do fewer things that day. So one of the schedules has a smaller area on Friday with more options on Monday-Thursday.

A 2nd schedule has more boxes and lines for students who have a more vigorous schedule and have more subjects.

The last option has a box for Saturday and Sunday because we all know that homeschooling doesn’t just happen during the week! Sometimes it’s an everyday endeavor!
